IGTV Playmakers: Spotlighting the Next Generation of Sports Video Content Creators

Meet five talented content creators and get their takes on the present and future of the sports video industry

Earlier this year, Facebook and Instagram teamed up to continue its fantastic program dedicated to showcasing the next generation of sports video content creators: the “IGTV Playmakers” campaign. This winter, five college students were selected from a hyper-competitive field of entrants  for the opportunity to create content and tell stories from Instagram’s IGTV account at the 2020 NCAA Women’s Final Four.

Unfortunately, their opportunity to cover the Final Four was lost when the collegiate sports season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. SVG is proud to partner with Instagram and Facebook to showcase their work for you and share an insightful conversation had with these talented young women regarding their craft, their aspirations for the future of the industry. and their creative advice for vertical video, leveraging access, and finding success in mobile-first video.

IGTV Playmakers Starting Five:

First, let’s meet each of the IGTV Playmakers and examples of their finest work:

SVG was fortunate enough to work with the team at Instagram and Facebook to host a roundtable discussion with this year’s lineup of IGTV Playmakers back on June 24 at the SVG College Summit Virtual Series. The following are some highlights from that discussion:

What are the challenges and benefits of vertical video?

How are younger generations consuming – and creating – content differently?

What areas outside of sports do you gain inspiration from?

The fulfillment in creating content for female athletes and women’s sports.

How did you get into video creation?
