MLS, Pluto TV Inks Multi-year Agreement Extension

Major League Soccer (MLS) and Pluto TV have announced a multi-year extension of their agreement.

MLS created another destination for fans to enjoy exciting and creative content on the world’s most popular game in 2019 by teaming up with Pluto TV. MLS content on Pluto TV includes replays of top matches from the current season, classic matches, original features, and original weekly programs like Matchday Central, Extratime driven by Continental, MLS Review, and highlights including “MLS in 15.” As part of the new agreement, Spanish language content on MLS will be available on Pluto TV’s Deportes Channel.

“Major League Soccer’s agreement with Pluto TV has provided fans new ways to experience and connect to the game, especially during a time when we are all staying apart,” said Gem Benedict, Senior Director of Content Distribution at MLS. “As we build on the momentum of the MLS is Back Tournament and continue our 25th season in home markets, we are proud to extend our relationship with Pluto TV and are excited to continue providing fans with great content this fall.”

Since the launch of the deal with MLS, Pluto TV has experienced an increase in monthly viewers from 12 million in 2019 to today’s 26.5 million monthly active users in the U.S. With over 100,000 hours of premium content available on the platform, Pluto TV offers audiences easy access to over twenty sports channels with something to entice all fans.

“For many, soccer is not just a game — it’s a fandom unlike any other — and having yearlong access to renowned soccer content with the MLS on Pluto TV is incredibly valuable,” states Will Gurman, Senior Director of Content Partnerships at Pluto TV. “Our MLS channel gives Pluto TV an extensive lineup of classic matches, expert analysis, highlights, talk shows, and more. We are honored to be able to continue offering this premium content to our viewers.”

The Pluto TV and MLS announcement takes place as the League continues its milestone 25th season with matches in home markets following a successful MLS Is Back tournament in Orlando. The regular season continues through Decision Day on Sunday, Nov. 8, followed by the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs and then MLS Cup on Saturday, Dec. 12. Games will air nationally in the U.S. on ESPN, Fox Sports, and across Univision’s networks, as well as regionally through individual club broadcast partners.

Viewers and fans can access Pluto TV in the living room by utilizing Amazon’s Fire TV, Android TV, Chromecast, LG Smart TV, Roku TV, Samsung Smart TV, Vizio TV, and Hisense, or on gaming consoles such as PS4 or Xbox One. It is also available on-the-go via apps for iOS, Android, and Amazon, at-the-fingertips on PC and Mac, or on the web.
