SVG On Demand: How Star India Is Using Remote Production Workflows to Deliver Live IPL Cricket Matches to More Than 500 Million Viewers Worldwide

What are the challenges and what workflows will stick in the future?

The Indian Premier League is the most popular sports league in India, and when you account for the fact that more than 500 million viewers regularly watch cricket matches from India globally, it may very be the most watched sports league on the entire planet. So when the IPL decided to geographically move its 2020 season to the United Arab Emirates during the COVID-19 pandemic, it required Star India to figure out new workflows to produce their live coverage.

Head of Star Sports Network Sanjog Gupta  breaks down their new workflows, including how even the front bench positions are calling shows from their own homes.  In this interview with SVG’s Executive Director, Editorial Services Ken Kerschbaumer, the duo discusses the challenges, some of the key enabling technologies, and why many of these methods may very well permanently stick for the future.

This interview was a keynote conversation featured at the SVG Remote Production Workflows Virtual Series held on October 28-29. To watch more content from this event for free, sign up now HERE.
