Blackmagic Design Integrates Primestream's Xchange MAM/PAM Into DaVinci Resolve 17

Primestream’s Xchange media asset management and production asset management (MAM/PAM) platform has been integrated with Blackmagic Design’s newly launched DaVinci Resolve 17. The integration drives advanced content creation workflows by giving DaVinci Resolve users direct access to the libraries housed in Xchange and by enabling full round-trip content exchanges between the MAM/PAM system and DaVinci Resolve.

“With the release of DaVinci Resolve 17, we’ve taken editing, visual effects, audio, post, and color grading to the next generation with more than 300 improvements. One important aspect of this new release is its ability to play seamlessly with industry-leading content management platforms such as Xchange,” said Dan May, president at Blackmagic Design. “Our partnership with Primestream represents the industry’s first true integration of PAM/MAM with an advanced color grading and NLE platform. It means DaVinci Resolve can now tie directly into MAM/PAM ecosystems in a manner that simply wasn’t possible before, helping users streamline and simplify the workflows that drive content creation.”

Xchange is Primestream’s flagship, enterprise-ready, web-based asset management platform that offers single and multisite operations global access to their content and workflows. Using the DaVinci Resolve workflow integration SDK, Primestream has developed an Xchange Creative Panel for Resolve that enables content editors to perform several key content management tasks without leaving their familiar DaVinci Resolve environment. Users can search for media and projects held in Xchange. They can also import media, with markers and subclips, from Xchange to DaVinci Resolve, and they can export a media sequence from DaVinci Resolve and register it to Xchange.

“With the launch of DaVinci Resolve 17 and its support for Apple’s powerful new M1 line of Macs, postproduction teams are able to take their cinematic color grading and NLE capabilities to new heights. And now, they can take those workflows even further through seamless, end-to-end access to content assets under management by Xchange,” said Namdev Lisman, executive vice president of Primestream. “The integration brings the power of advanced MAM/PAM to Blackmagic Design’s large installed base of DaVinci Resolve users. At the same time, it brings into the fold creative team members who were previously isolated from content management workflows.”
