Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation Gives SVG Community Dedicated Support on Road to Recovery, Stability

SVG is proud to announce a relationship with the world-renowned Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation that will make it easier than ever for sports production professionals, SVG members, sponsors, and their families to get access to addiction and mental health care resources. It begins with a direct line, 855-348-7018, which is available to those in our industry (or family members) who want to speak with a Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation team member. SVG members can also email [email protected].

Hazelden Betty Ford provides a full continuum of clinical care and recovery support, including assessment, inpatient addiction treatment, outpatient addiction treatment (both virtual and in-person) as well as mental health services, again both virtual and in-person.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has put many more members of the sports production community and their families in a more vulnerable place emotionally and financially,” says Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG, co-executive director. “And for many the hardest part is knowing where to go for help. By establishing a relationship with the Halzelden Betty Ford Foundation SVG members can know exactly where to go and how to take positive first steps.”

When an SVG member calls or emails Hazelden Betty Ford the process will begin with a discussion with a dedicated team member who will work with the SVG member to determine the best course of action with respect to treatment, consultations, or mental health services.

One concern that prevents many from reaching out is costs, but Hazelden Betty Ford is an in-network addiction treatment center with most major health insurance companies with the exception of Medicare/Medicaid. This means that many of the services offered, or much of the costs, will be covered.

“Based on SVG’s impressive success coordinating a meaningful response to the many challenges presented to its members by the COVID-19 pandemic, it occured to me that the natural outgrowth of that effort would be to continue to address the many ancillary issues which have surfaced since. And Hazelden Betty Ford was the obvious place to go for that support,” says Geoffrey Mason, former ABC Sports Executive Producer, long-time member of Betty Ford Center’s board of directors, and member of the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Most importantly, when someone calls a financial case manager will work with those in need to determine the best funding plan and even explore other aid options, including the SVG Sports Broadcasting Fund.
