SVG Summit:CONNECT Preview – Day 4 Dedicated to SVG Initiatives and Community Meetings

Meetings on SVG's Clean Freaks, SPIRIT Diversity, SVGW, DTV Audio, and RSN Community initiatives

The fourth day of the SVG Summit:CONNECT (Thursday, Dec. 17) will serve as “Initiatives Day” with a tremendous lineup of thought-provoking zoom-style meetings where we hope you will not only attend but also be part of the conversation. The day will feature sessions dedicated to SVG’s Clean Freaks, SPIRIT Diversity, SVGW, DTV Audio, and RSN Community initiatives.

We will kick things off at noon EST for a one-hour “Clean Freaks” meeting. The “Clean Freaks” group is comprised of leading TV and league production professionals and every week since the end of March they have gotten together for a weekly call to discuss COVID testing, protocols, and more. You won’t want to miss this lively discussion!

Then at 1 pm EST the SVG is proud to unveil its diversity and inclusion initiative: SPIRIT (Sports Production Inclusion Responsibility in Technology).  This one-hour session will give you a chance to learn about our plans, how your company can step up its diversity and inclusion game, and much more. Join us and become part of a new future for sports production.

SPIRIT will be followed at 2 pm EST by the annual SVGW meeting. SVGW this year will take a look at women on the front bench and we have five amazing speakers who will share their experiences on the front bench and spur on a conversation about how they industry can get more women into directing and producing roles.

And then at 3 pm join us for the annual RSN Meeting. Unfortunately the RSN community could not get together in Chicago in person but this virtual meeting will give you a chance to learn more about how they are approaching production in this challenging time.

And finally, if you want to get your fill of audio join the DTV Audio Group from 1-3 pm EST for the DTV Audio Group winter meeting. Production practices for next-generation audio will be the order of the day and you won’t want to miss it.

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.: Clean Freaks Meeting
Join us for a very special “Clean Freaks” meeting where we will discuss the current state of COVID-19 protection protocols, the latest efforts by sports leagues and networks, and more. SVG’s Clean Freaks group has meet weekly since March in an effort to keep the lines of communication open among the industry and keep our crews safe and healthy by sharing information on their respective safety protocols.

1:00 – 2:00 p.m.: SPIRIT Diversity Meeting
The Sports Production Inclusion Responsibility in Technology (SPIRIT) Diversity meeting will provide an overview and discussion of the role SVG and its members and sponsors can play in making the sports-production workplace more diverse and inclusive. Learn about organizations that can partner with yours to make a difference, the difference between inclusion and diversity.

1:00 – 3:00 p.m.: DTV Audio Group Meeting – Production Practices for Next-Generation Audio
As television-distribution models continue to evolve, opportunities are opening up to enhance viewer experiences with augmented personalization and accessibility features. How can these features be supported on a practical production basis for live sports programing? Join the DTV Audio Group roundtable for a discussion of these and other aspects of next-generation audio. With the collaboration of networks, manufacturers, technologists, sound designers, and engineers, the DTV Audio Group is committed to furthering the practical application of emerging television audio standards and technologies through education and open exchange of ideas, best practices, and techniques.

2:00 – 3:00 p.m.: SVGW Meeting
SVGW (formerly SVG’s Women’s Sports Media Initiative) is a networking group that aims to enhance the role of women in the creation, production, and distribution of sports content. Members are an integral part of the larger SVG community and work for sports leagues, teams, television networks, technology companies, and startups, where their focus is the business and technology behind sports production. All are invited to attend!

3:00 – 4:00 p.m.: RSN Community Meeting
Few sectors of the sports-media industry have been impacted as significantly by the pandemic as regional sports networks. With that in mind, this meeting will offer a look at the current RSN landscape and how production workflows are evolving to meet today’s challenges. RSN production, operations, and technology leaders will take part in this open conversation in an effort to enhance collaboration, communication, and innovation in 2021.
