Telestream Launches DIVA Software, Enhances CaptionMaker and Vantage Offerings

Telestream has launched Telestream DIVA, the latest iteration of the renowned DIVA software suite for digital asset management. In addition, the company has also made enhancements to its CaptionMaker authoring software and the Vantage Media Processing Platform.

Telestream DIVA
Enhancements available in Telestream DIVA include a new simplified REST API, full integration of DIVA Command into DIVA Core, more flexible options for cloud uploads and storage management, and extended migration services and restore capabilities.

“With an array of recent enhancements, Telestream DIVA is a valuable new member of our technology portfolio,” says Geoff Tognetti, SVP at Telestream. “The software suite’s robust feature set and proven performance give our customers reliable, flexible asset management across on-premise and cloud, in support of all variety of modern media processing applications. The ability to have assets in a hybrid environment allows customers to use the most cost-effective storage for their assets; and features like Partial File Restore and Storage Plan Manager provide the means to efficiently move those assets when needed.”

Telestream DIVA Core’s new simplified REST API provides core control, monitoring, configuration, and analytics endpoints. The API dialect is modeled after S3 and uses standard commands such as get, put, list, copy, delete, move, etc. for easier integration work. Now with access to more than 50 configuration endpoints, users have the headroom to configure every resource in Telestream DIVA. Twenty core control endpoints support numerous new control requests to further streamline content and storage management.

Monitoring options are likewise extended in Telestream DIVA, which supports more than 40 resource and request endpoints for monitoring services. The software features analytics endpoints for reporting on nearly 50 unique events generated by the Telestream DIVA analytics engine. The REST API now also includes support for license import and export. Because DIVA Command is now fully integrated into Telestream DIVA Core and hosted on the Telestream DIVA Core REST API Gateway, users enjoy simpler installation and configuration.

Newly added support for multithreading and multipart for S3 and related storage protocols, including Microsoft Azure, greatly improves transfer speeds with certain types of files. Users also have the option of using media priority to control cloud instance selection.

Migration services now allow users to restrict the number of simultaneous requests across all jobs. The addition of a new “restore tier” option enables users to apply the restore tier to the source in the transfer when restoring to an S/D. Along with these enhancements, Telestream DIVA includes minor updates across the software suite that improve overall performance.

CaptionMaker and Vantage
They provide all the production tools required by major broadcast networks and content distributors who have standardized on the IMF (Interoperable Master Format) file-based delivery format, especially with improved captioning and subtitling capability.

In particular, CaptionMaker and Vantage Timed Text Flip now support IMSC 1.1, the latest version of the SMPTE standard for subtitling and captioning. IMSC is of particular importance in the preparation of IMF packages, and IMSC 1.1 is required for those who are producing content for the Japanese market, as well as global companies, such as Netflix.

These enhancements clearly differentiate Telestream in the IMF production tool market. No other technology vendor offers workflow automation combined with the caption and subtitle processing capabilities offered in Vantage and CaptionMaker. Using CaptionMaker, users can author, edit, encode and repurpose video captions and subtitles. Then, using Vantage, they can simply include these media files in automated workflows for file transformation as needed when creating primary and supplemental IMF packages.

With CaptionMaker, users create video captions and subtitles for television, web and mobile delivery. CaptionMaker simplifies the process of complying with government regulations, enabling greater access to broadcast content for television, online and mobile viewers. The latest release supports IMSC 1.1 and contains several other enhancements including improved caption and subtitle rendering that makes them crisper and easier to read.

Also, Vantage Timed Text Flip provides full support for IMSC, including version 1.1. IMSC is required for IMF packages. Users that need to deliver video content to TV or Internet can use Vantage and Timed Text Flip to transcode captions and subtitles with their media within a single, automated workflow. This type of automation can help a variety of organizations meet government mandates in a file-based workflow.

In addition, Vantage IMF Producer automates the creation of IMF packages from Adobe® Premiere® Pro. Using a Vantage panel within Adobe Premiere Pro provides direct access and significant workflow efficiencies for editors. IMF Producer automates the creation of all files required in an IMF package from a single output render of an Adobe Premiere Pro timeline. As well as generating the primary package, editors can create additional sequences, which become supplemental IMF packages that contain different versions of audio, subtitles, edit points, Dolby Vision HDR metadata and more.

“As a file-based delivery format, IMF is gaining widespread support from the media industry, so the decision to focus our efforts on developing IMF production tools was straightforward,” explains Scott Matics, Senior Director of Product Management at Telestream. “However, these are not just any old IMF productions tools – they reflect Telestream’s outstanding expertise in this area and a great depth of customer feedback.”
