Daktronics Improves Live Event Experience at College of the Holy Cross With New Videoboard
Daktronics has partnered with College of the Holy Cross to design, manufacture and install a new LED video board for the Crusaders’ football stadium, Fitton Field, in Worcester, MA, this spring. Events held at the stadium will share messages on the more than 900-square-foot end zone display featuring more than 550,000 LEDs.
“We are excited to partner with the College to make this project, which will benefit our entire campus community, a reality,” says Director of Athletics Marcus Blossom. “This video board will significantly enhance our football game day environment and will provide the College with a variety of opportunities to support new or improved campus events at Fitton Field. This will allow our fans to enjoy Crusader football games in a whole new way, and we are looking forward to adding the next level of entertainment to Saturdays this fall.”
The new end zone display will measure approximately 19 feet high by 48 feet wide and will feature a 15HD pixel layout to bring excellent image clarity and contrast to fans in every seat. The display will also feature environmental protection to ensure it is operating as expected during in the outdoor elements of Massachusetts.
“The fan experience for College of the Holy Cross is an important element for the students, the athletes, the long-time fan base and faculty,” says Peter Dunkle, Daktronics sales representative. “The addition of the new full color LED display will take the fan experience to a new level, whether it be for athletic events, social gatherings or outdoor commencements. Daktronics has been fortunate to work with Holy Cross for a number of years and we’re grateful for the opportunity to expand and continue our relationship.”
The display is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to share any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
In addition to the equipment installation, the Crusaders will also receive a content package that will be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services.
