Sports Broadcast Veterans Geoffrey Mason, Jerry Steinberg Join PPI Board of Directors and Advisory Committee

Program Productions and its affiliated companies, XLT Management Services, Kingsbridge Shared Services, and ProCrewz are pleased to announce that industry titans Geoffrey Mason and Jerry Steinberg have joined the companies’ Board of Directors and Advisory Committee.

Geoff Mason

“To say I’m excited today would be an understatement,” noted the companies’ Chairman and CEO Bob Carzoli.  “Adding one of these two Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame legends would be outstanding.  Bringing both Geoff and Jerry on to help our organization move into the future is both incredibly inspiring and extremely humbling at the same time.  Their leadership, integrity, and accomplishments are recognized by everyone in our industry.”

Mason brings more than five decades of network sports experience, which includes 25 Emmy Awards and experience working with ABC, NBC, FOX, ESPN, and NFL Network.  Mason has an incredibly robust international broadcast background, including seven Olympic Games, six World Cups and multiple America’s Cup races.

Jerry Steinberg

“As the entire sports broadcast industry struggles to re-invent itself in this post-COVID world, it seemed like a good time for me to consider doing the same,” says Mason.  “After all, I have been exclusively dedicated to the production end of sports television  for more than 50 years. Bob Carzoli, company President Scott West, and the Program Productions team have created a new and innovative approach to managing resources across the entire sports broadcasting spectrum, and I am excited about helping them lead our industry into this brave new world.”

Steinberg, known as ‘The Godfather’ at Fox Sports, is an icon of remote sports production. Steinberg managed operations for FOX’s live broadcasts (nearly 300 per year), including facilities, personnel, and new technologies. In addition to multiple World Series and Super Bowls, he has overseen eight Daytona 500 races, BCS and National Championship games and Stanley Cup Finals.

“The key is the people,” Steinberg points out. “I’ve worked with Program Productions for a number of years now and, quite simply, their staff is outstanding and totally committed to the technicians who work for them and the clients they serve. This is an opportunity for me to take my experience and help guide their businesses in new directions.”

Carzoli, Mason and Steinberg have worked together closely on the Sports Video Group’s Hazelden Betty Ford Program.

“I already knew Jerry and was able to establish a relationship with Geoff, as I supported their efforts to develop this program for the folks in our industry,” says Carzoli.  “As we talked about our visions of what the industry would look like over the next five years, I quickly realized that their knowledge and expertise would help our team become the best version of ourselves.  Asking them to join our Board of Directors was clearly the right way to achieve that goal.”

Mason adds there was one additional benefit to coming together:  “To be able to work side-by-side with my Hall of Fame partner and dear friend Jerry Steinberg, is nothing short of a dream come true.”
