ASU Productions Offers Wide Range of Mobile Production Trucks To Match Today’s Technological Trends

The Sports Video Group is delighted to introduce ASU Productions as a new mobile/integrator sponsor. Based in New York, ASU Productions and American Satellite Uplink have been a leader in the mobile production and satellite industry for more than 14 years and offers a variety of services including mobile production, C-Band, and KU satellite trucks. ASU has been focused on the smaller truck footprint while still providing a powerful punch for their clients.

“Our mid-size production truck is at the forefront for today’s demands in sports and television,” says Don Collopy, President of ASU Productions. “This multipurpose truck can fulfill all the needs of our clients in one mobile unit.”

Leading the way, Collopy has been in television for over 28 years going back to his days at CBS Sports in New York in the early 1990’s. He worked at Fox News Channel for 10 years before leaving to start American Satellite Uplink. As productions started to grow bigger and more complex, the company formed a new division, ASU Productions. While ASU Productions still provides satellite services, the company is more geared now for mobile video productions for sporting events.

On the technological side, ASU Productions’ mobile units include Sony SMPTE fiber cameras, graphics, replay, video switching, and digital audio mixing. Unlike traditional production trucks, they can also provide satellite, fiber, and IP encoding and can transmit up to 10 video paths over multiple platforms simultaneous. With the emergence of REMI- and MICR-style events, ASU Productions is ready and willing to provide services for clients looking to send back each camera individually.

Out on the road, these sporting events span all over the United States and Canada. In the past year, their production and C-band trucks have produced events in Florida for the Super Bowl, Alabama for the Senior Bowl, and Iowa for track and field. They are also accredited to work in Canada with events over the years in Ottawa and Montreal. The company is proud to work with news and sports agencies on some of their biggest events including the NFL, ESPN, NBC Sports, and Fox.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the Sports Video Group and looking forward to getting the insight from leaders in sports and television who have molded our industry,” says Collopy. “ASU Productions is looking forward to working with all of you on one of your upcoming events.”
