Watch Now! Mental Health Minute, Ep. 9: Staying in Touch With Middle School-Aged Children

Welcome to the July 29 edition of the Mental Health Minute, a new 10-part series created by SVG and Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. Created for sports production professionals like those working hard at the Olympics, each episode takes a look at how to deal with a specific issue. Today’s episode focuses on how to stay connected with your middle schooler and our guest is Jerry Moe, the National Director of the Hazelden Betty Ford Children’s Program.

An Advisory Board Member of the National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACoA), he is an author, lecturer, and trainer on issues for children and families hurt by addiction. In 2013, he received the Mona Mansell Award and the Father Joseph C. Martin Award.

His latest book is Through a Child’s Eyes: Understanding Addiction and Recovery. Moe received the 2005 America Honors Recovery Award from the Johnson Institute, and the 2000 Ackerman/Black Award from NACoA for “significantly improving the lives of children of alcoholics in the United States and around the world.”

Also, throughout the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, our Win Back Your Life 12-Step Meetings will be held DAILY! These meetings provide support and community to those in (or seeking) recovery for a substance use disorder. It’s an opportunity to begin (or end) each day just the right way and you can join from anywhere. All are welcome!
