SVG Adopts Vaccinated-Only Policy for Fall In-Person Events

Sports Video Group (SVG) is implementing a vaccinated-only policy for its four in-person events scheduled for this fall, beginning with the SVG Chairman’s Forum in Las Vegas (October 7-9). The move responds to feedback from SVG members and sponsors as well as a growing trend among SVG’s member companies to mandate vaccinations at their own events and within their own organizations.

SVG Executive Director Paul Gallo says the sports production industry has led the way in developing and implementing safe and responsible protocols throughout the pandemic, including collaborating on COVID-19 Sports Production Operations protocols that are available here.

“It is in keeping with this approach that our association is beginning the safe and deliberate process of bringing the industry back together in person in the months ahead,” says Gallo.

The SVG vaccinated-only policy goes into effect with the SVG Chairman’s Forum, which will be held in Las Vegas just prior to the NAB Show (October 10-13). The NAB last week announced its own vaccinated-only mandate; more information can be found here.

The SVG Chairman’s Forum is an invitation-only meeting that brings together SVG’s leadership and their key technology partners in an intimate, networking setting every year. Since the SVG Chairman’s Forum is always “off-the-record” there will be no virtual option to attend this event.

“Our goal is to ensure that SVG members and sponsors are comfortable coming together and getting back to the business of information sharing, networking, and doing business in person,” says SVG Executive Director Ken Kerschbaumer. “This is a big step in that direction.”

Registrants will also be responsible for providing valid proof of vaccination to attend SVG’s Esports Production Summit in Los Angeles (November 16), the SVG Summit in New York (December 13-14), and the annual SVG Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame Ceremony (December 14).  Whenever possible, SVG will make digital content available to those who are unable to attend in person.

At this point, valid proof of vaccination will be done onsite at the events and will require:

  • Vaccination card (either the actual vaccination card or a photo)
  • Display of an app that includes vaccination information (for example, New York State’s Excelsior Pass)

SVG will have additional details in the coming weeks and the organization’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic will continue to evolve as needed to ensure the safety and health of all of our members and sponsors.
