VITAC Supplies Captioning for 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Summer Games

VITAC is providing captioning for the Tokyo Paralympic Summer Games, running through Sept. 5 on NBC and its affiliated networks and platforms.

NBCUniversal plans to present more than 1,200 hours of Tokyo Paralympic Games coverage, including more than 200 hours of television coverage across NBC, NBCSN, and the Olympic Channel, and over 1,000 hours of streaming coverage on NBCOlympics.com, the NBC Sports app, and Peacock.

VITAC’s talented captioners, coordinators, schedulers, and engineers, many of whom just finished bringing captions to more than 2,200 hours of Tokyo Summer Olympic programming and events earlier month, now are busy researching Paralympic athletes and teams, events, sporting venues, and announcing teams, among other things, to make sure that viewers who rely on captioning see the most accurate captions possible.

NBC Olympics also will provide video description services — short verbal descriptions of action or key video scenes to add context to programing — for viewers with visual disabilities as well as improved web content accessibility, including keyboard navigation, color contrast, and support for screen readers, on NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app.
