With the onset of the pandemic, more and more sports broadcasters began using the public internet and the cloud to backhaul and distribute live video. As a result, transport protocols like SRT, RIST, RTMP, and Zixi are increasingly important. Dr. Noronha will be part of a panel that will explain how live low-latency video contribution over the public internet has become widely accepted in the industry and how it is changing sports broadcasters’ transmission philosophy for live event production.

“It is important for the industry to be aware of the important work of the RIST Forum and I am honored to play a role in these events that highlight and exemplify its accomplishments,” explains Dr. Noronha. “By developing various profiles to define levels of interoperability capabilities, we’ve made it easier for vendors to add RIST standards to their products and for users to identify product features. With RIST, interoperability is achieved through clear specifications, while vendors remain free to innovate within their own implementations.”
