Kenya Broadcasting Strengthens TVU Networks Transmitters, Server for Updated Live News Coverage and Streaming

Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) has added 10 TVU One 4K HDR mobile transmitters to its existing TVU complement for more extensive live news coverage and a TVU VS3500 4K UHD server for support streaming content to the website and social media.

Nairobi-based firm, Philmart, a TVU Networks partner, provided systems integration services to KBC. Philmart also provided training to the KBC Editorial, Technical and ICT teams on how to leverage the TVU Cloud solutions of TVU Anywhere, TVU Partyline and TVU Producer.

“TVU is the backbone of our ENG operation,” says Job Karimi, Manager Technical Operations, KBC. “We’re able to report various incidents as they happen and keep the public updated on the latest news within the shortest time possible. We use TVU every day in our daily ENG news production. In cases where we deploy our OB van, we also use our TVU One units to capture critical cut-away shots and to cover areas where the OB truck cannot. From the market information we’ve seen, TVU is a superior brand, and following our acquisition of their technology, that has proven to be true.”

KBC has been a TVU customer since 2016 when they first purchased ten TVU One mobile transmitters that were first deployed in Kenya’s Presidential Elections of 2017. As the country’s only licensed public broadcaster, the organization maintains its commitment to keeping Kenyans informed of local news in a thorough and timely manner.

“KBC and Philmart, are long-time valued partners of TVU Networks,” says Paul Shen, CEO, TVU Networks. “It’s rewarding to witness how KBC has utilized our solutions to push their news coverage forward. Given what they’ve accomplished thus far, we expect their media services to continue to break boundaries both locally and globally.”
