Devlin Design Group Wins PROMAX Awards for Marquee Sports Network, WLWT Set Design
Devlin Design Group captured the Gold and Silver Awards in the Set Design category announced at this year’s virtual PROMAX Local Awards event held on Oct. 7. The PROMAX Awards are one of the most prestigious competitions for television’s creative community.
WLWT, Hearst Television’s NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, was awarded this year’s Gold trophy. The set design was finalized, built and installed at the height of the pandemic. The challenges were met and the debut of the new design, featuring visual icons of the Cincinnati area, flexible presentation venues, with an impressive array of tech, continues to keep storytelling engaging for viewers.
Marquee Sports Network, home of the Chicago Cubs, Sinclair Broadcast Group’s, regional sports network, grabbed the Silver Award. Inspired by the heritage of the Cubs, and the team’s loyal fans, the legacy of Wrigley Field is seen throughout the set. Designing new ways to present in-depth sports content with limitless functionality, interactivity and most importantly fan engagement, is what makes this design a home-run.
“To win the Set Design Category at the PROMAX awards is beyond amazing! The collaboration between our clients at WLWT and Marquee Sports Network are what make both designs award winning. The contributions of the talented individuals who fabricate, light the studio, and integrate the technology, celebrate with us in this achievement.” says Kartik Dakshinamoorthy, VP & Scenic Design Director, Devlin Design Group.
The PROMAX Gold and Silver Awards add to Team DDG’s 2021 awards total. Earlier this year, DDG was awarded the top prize in the Webcast Set Design category for the NewscastStudio, Broadcast Production Awards international competition, for their scenic environment at VENN, the live 24/7 network for gaming, streaming, esports and entertainment, located in Los Angeles.
