Pac-12 Conference Links With WSC Sports for Automated Social Media Highlights

The Pac-12 Conference has teamed up with WSC Sports to bring automated video highlights in real-time directly to fans via its social media channels, Pac-12.com and the Pac-12 Now app, among other platforms. The collaboration, having already begun with a pilot project during the 2021 football season, provides the Conference and Pac-12 Networks with tools to better serve fans of Pac-12 universities and student-athletes.

“We are really excited to be teaming up with the Pac-12 on this project,” says Joe DaCosta, North America Business Development, WSC Sports. “This is an exciting time for college athletics, athletes and programs, and through our work with the Pac-12 the conference will be able to deliver more compelling content for fans through their favorite channels faster than ever before.”

WSC Sports’ AI platform auto-detects, indexes and tags each play from a Pac-12 game in real-time and automatically creates and distributes highlights across various platforms. The use of this AI technology enables the Pac-12 to deliver more content to fans, faster than ever before. The Pac-12 is currently utilizing WSC Sports to scale up the production of highlights content for its football and men’s and women’s basketball game broadcasts.

In addition to creating innovative new fan experiences through content, WSC Sports’ tools will enable the Pac-12 to further capitalize on the value of the league’s media rights across football and basketball. The new highlights and content stemming from this collaboration also will be accessible by student-athletes for NIL (name, image & likeness) opportunities through the Pac-12’s NIL Licensing Program. In a pilot test between the Pac-12 and WSC Sports on the league’s Facebook page during the 2021 football season, the conference saw a 46% increase in minutes viewed of video highlights and a 131% increase in people reached.

“Pac-12 student-athletes regularly achieve greatness on the field and on the court,” says Josh Ishoo, senior director of public relations and digital & social media for the Pac-12. “With WSC Sports, we’re taking our highlights game to the next level by sharing more moments across more platforms at faster speeds than ever before.”
