SVG On Demand: Behind the Scenes of MLB Network’s Revamped Studio 3, New Studio Shows

MLB Network is one month into their 14th consecutive season on the air. Prior to the start of the 2022 campaign, the league’s flagship linear outlet made a handful of announcements. Live productions are now being infused with 1080p workflows and a new streaming partner, but on the studio side, operations were improved since the network’s debut in 2009. The biggest offseason project was developing a new-look Studio 3 and launch a pair of new shows: Off Base and Pregame Spread.

At the MLB Network facility in Secaucus, NJ, a quintet of notable individuals — SVP, Operations and Engineering Susan Stone; SVP, Production Marc Caiafa; Director, Studio and Support Engineering Curt BoseDirector, Studio Operations Michael Herbert; and Senior Coordinating Director Mark Deaver — highlight the physical changes of the set, explain the work that went into transforming this space, how these alterations blend into the surrounding environment and existing production infrastructure, how this revamp influences and improves the storytelling of their studio programming, detail some of the new shows taking place within other studios in the building, and how this plays into the future of the network.
