When First Lady Betty Ford opened the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA, it began a new era in addiction treatment and recovery, and Susan discusses her mother’s efforts to ensure that women have equal access to treatment options, why it’s important that addiction is viewed as a family disease, and how alumni activities from HBF can make a difference in maintaining long-term sobriety, and more.
The episode, hosted by Bryan Fenley, Fox Sports Radio national anchor, features Ms. Ford as well as Jerry Moe, who for 23 years was Executive Director of the Betty Ford National Children’s Program. Moe is also an advisor for “Sesame Street,” where he helps shape the show’s discussions around addiction and mental health.
