Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Toronto FC To Battle for Canadian Championship Title on OneSoccer

OneSoccer, the home of Canadian soccer, will show live and exclusive coverage, with English, French and Spanish commentary, of tomorrow’s Canadian Championship Final at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium, where Major League Soccer teams Vancouver Whitecaps and Toronto FC will battle for the coveted Voyageurs Cup and a spot in the 2023 Scotiabank Champions League.

Live coverage of the match, which kicks off at 7.30pm PT / 10.30pm ET, will be aired on dedicated soccer channel OneSoccer, available to all Canadian households with internet access (96.5% of all homes), through OneSoccer.ca, via Roku, Chromecast and Apple TV devices and with the OneSocccer app for iOS and Android devices.

The Canadian Championship is Canada Soccer’s highest domestic professional soccer competition and is the sole qualification route for Canadian professional clubs into the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Vancouver Whitecaps advanced to the Final after recording a 2-1 victory over Canadian League side York United FC in the semi-finals of the tournament, while Toronto FC downed fellow MLS club CF Montréal by a score of 4-0 to earn their ticket to BC Place.

The Whitecaps line-up is spearheaded by Canadian international and prolific striker Lucas Cavallini; the team will be bolstered by the recent signing of German midfielder Julian Gressel from DC United, who is recognized as one of the league’s best chance creaters and crossers.

Toronto FC, meanwhile, will boast the presence on the pitch of two recent signings from Serie A, the Italian top-tier league: Lorenzo Insigne, formerly captain of Napoli and the all-time scorer for the club after overtaking Diego Maradona’s haul of 115 in January of this year; and Federico Bernardeschi, who joins from Juventus. The pair arrived in Toronto earlier this month just a year after helping the Azzuri, the Italian national team, to victory over England on penalty kicks in the UEFA Euro 2020 Final. The Canadian Championship Final will be only their second match for TFC following their MLS debut on the weekend against Charlotte FC.

TFC have won a record eight Canadian Championship titles, most recently the 2020 Final against Forge FC of the CPL, with Vancouver having hoisted the Cup once.
