University of Maryland Introduces New Subscription-Based Platform, Terps+

The University of Maryland athletics department is partnering with Sport & Story to launch Terps+, a new subscription streaming platform featuring original video content, podcasts, a daily email newsletter and additional storytelling features.

Launching this fall, Terps+ will include the full library of content that has been produced via Terrapin Club + and will continue to expand through the addition of brand new features such as a new behind-the-scenes access series, exclusive interviews with coaches and student-athletes, film room sessions breaking down the Xs and Os of the games, archival footage showcasing iconic moments, and lots more.

Fans can join Terps+ on an annual basis for only $7.99 per month or a one-time cost of $79.99 to get two months of access for free.

Content will be consumable wherever Maryland fans want to watch, including web, mobile and all major OTT (“over-the-top”) streaming apps like AppleTV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, and Android.

“We are incredibly excited to launch Terps+ for our passionate Terrapin fans,” said Damon Evans, Barry P. Gossett Director of Athletics at Maryland. “Combining the complete library of content from Terrapin Club+ along with new, behind-the-scenes videos will be something every Terp fan will want to see.”

In addition to the exclusive video content, Terps+ subscribers will receive The Terrapin Morning Brew – a daily email newsletter covering all things Maryland Athletics – in addition to an ever-growing assortment of benefits. The first edition will publish tomorrow – Wednesday, Oct. 26 – and is free for all fans. Click here to subscribe.

Terps+ is a partnership between Maryland Athletics and Sport & Story, the group who has partnered with premiere Power 5 college athletics departments to create subscription platforms as well as produce premium storytelling content for ESPN, HBO, and other national media outlets. Additionally, industry-leading design and engineering firm WMT Digital led the build for the new platform and user experience.

“We are so excited to work alongside the talented staff at Maryland to help expand and further enhance their already robust library of content,” said Sport & Story President, Bo Mattingly. “This partnership will be a huge win for Terrapin fans nationwide and we’re eager to provide them with a new membership experience.”

“Maryland successfully began the process of launching a direct-to-consumer offering with their donor base during the pandemic, so we’re humbled and honored that we were brought in to help enrich and enhance the technology platform powering these efforts”, said Andres Focil, Founder and CEO of WMT Digital. “The entire team at WMT has enjoyed collaborating with Sport & Story to marry content creation, member engagement and technology in collegiate sports. We will help Maryland build off the current foundation and deliver the next evolution of storytelling and member engagement to the Terrapin fan base.”
