The Only Constant Is Change: How College Athletic Departments Are Transitioning Facilities to IP and NDI

Leaders from Notre Dame, Georgia State, Diversified, Ross Video, Vizrt share their experiences

The 2024-25 college sports season is already well under way, and, after a summer of dramatic conference realignment, the demand on athletic departments for the production of live broadcasts is greater than ever.

Live-broadcast infrastructures vary from campus to campus, with many athletic departments looking to stay on the cutting edge of technology for the most efficient ways of handling the long tail of live production. These days that includes looking at technologies like IP and NDI and at cloud and remote workflows.

In this panel discussion at the 2024 SVG College Summit, technology leaders from both academic institutions and vendors share their latest experiences in how IP and NDI are becoming more common on the college-sports scene.

This discussion includes:

  • Chandler Apple, Georgia State University, Lead Broadcast Engineer
  • Chris Burgos, Vizrt, Sales Enablement Manager
  • Patrick Daly, Diversified, Principal Engineer, Media
  • Liam O’Hanlon, Quince Imaging, Director,  Engineering
  • Scott Rinehart, Notre Dame Studios, Senior Director
  • Stefan Tribble, Ross Video, Solution Specialist, Sports and Live Events

Taking place in Atlanta on May 30, the session was moderated by Ken Kerschbaumer, co-executive director, editorial services, SVG.
