2024 Corporate Star Awards Celebrate Excellence in ESG in Broadcast and Media Technology

The 2024 Corporate Star Awards (CSA) celebrated excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives across 12 categories in the media-tech sector. With more than 100 submissions this year, the awards showcased the growing importance of ESG in the broadcast and media tech sector.

During a gala dinner at the Okura Hotel in Amsterdam last month, these honorees were announced:

Best Campaign To Improve Diversity: Globo, for its comprehensive approach to fostering diverse communities both internally and industry-wide

Best Campaign To Improve Health and Mental Wellbeing: EVS, for its innovative use of the Tero Go App integrated with popular fitness devices to engage employees in a fun and inclusive challenge

Best Campaign To Improve Training and Education: Exceptional Minds, for its integrated program that trains and employs students with autism in the entertainment industry

Net Zero Innovation Award: KitPlus Auctions, for its strategic approach to standardizing measurement for auction items, particularly used equipment.

Best ESG Report: Sony, for its comprehensive coverage of material issues, detailed policies, goals, and action plans across all regions

Best Carbon Footprint Improvement Initiative: IBC Accelerator Project ECOFLOW, for its collaborative effort to enhance energy efficiency in streaming

Best Charity/CSR Initiative: Videndum Production Solutions, for its Action4Good initiative and partnership with the Rainforest Trust

Best Employee Engagement Programme: Irdeto, for its holistic approach integrating UN Sustainable Development Goals into workplace practices

Product Innovation of the Year: Appear, for its X Platform product that significantly reduces carbon consumption during its operational life and addresses the full carbon life cycle

Best Initiative To Strengthen Global Partnerships: France Télévisions, for its collaboration with partners to develop an innovative solution to event-management challenges at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Best ESG Ambassador: RISE’s Carla Maroussas, for her transformative empowerment of women across the industry. Her work is a beacon of progress, driving gender equality not just within companies but throughout society.

Rising Star: Green Spark Group’s Samantha Leigh, for her expertise in sustainable development and impact on the film-, TV-, and commercial-production industries. From implementing effective waste-management systems to advising on sustainable strategies for major productions, Leigh’s passion and leadership are driving transformative change toward a more sustainable future in entertainment.
