SPORTEL Hits Manhattan With SPORTEL Talks Event, Co-Located With SVG Summit

SPORTEL’s Laurent Puons: ‘We are excited to be heading for the first time to New York’

The clock is ticking, and the pace is picking up as we head toward the inaugural SPORTEL Talks New York, taking place on Monday, Dec. 16 at the New York Hilton Midtown. Co-located with SVG Summit, SPORTEL Talks New York promises to be an unmissable gathering for the SPORTEL and wider sports business and tech communities. This new and original short SPORTEL format will connect key industry players through an intense afternoon of high-impact executive discussions, thought leadership, and engaging networking opportunities.

“We are excited to be heading for the first time to New York to host this afternoon of high-level talks and impactful networking and to co-locate with the SVG Summit at the heart of North America’s sports-media region,” says Laurent Puons, managing director, SPORTEL. “SPORTEL Talks New York is the perfect complement to our next- up springtime SPORTEL America two-day event returning to Miami on 1 and 2 April 2025, confirming SPORTEL’s strong presence and continued growth strategy in the Americas market.”

Opening with a midday networking reception, the gathering will kick off with a welcome by SVG Chairman Michael Davies, EVP, technical and field operations, FOX Sports, alongside SVG Editorial Director Ken Kerschbaumer. Please note that SPORTEL Talks New York is not a part of the SVG Summit, and industry professionals need to click here to register in order to secure a badge. SPORTEL badge holders will have access to the SVG Summit and are encouraged to register for the Summit via this link.

The first of the afternoon’s expert panels, “U.S. Sports Leagues and Major Event Executive Perspectives,” will offer an enlightening discussion on how legacies and brands resonate on a global level and set the tone for the sports-business industry commercially, concerning media rights, sponsorship, fandom, digital innovation, and beyond. On the panel will be Kirsten Corio, chief commercial officer, USTA; Nilay Shah, SVP, marketing and brand strategy, New York Giants; and moderator Eric Fisher, newsletter writer, Front Office Sports.

Next up, a case study will feature digital pay-per-view streaming platform PPV.COM powered by Gold Sponsor Kiswe. Presenters Wim Sweldens, co-founder/CMO and Mark Boccardi, SVP, programming and marketing, iNDEMAND/PPV.COM, will detail how they collaborated to launch the platform across web, mobile, and Smart TV to attract key content to the platform and how they acquire, engage, and maintain a constantly growing audience.

Changing gears, “It’s a Fan’s World” will talk about next-generation fans’ using next-generation tech — AI, digital, social platforms — to consume and engage with their favorite sports, transforming the sports industry while providing invaluable data and creating new revenue streams. George Bevir, editorial director, SVG Europe, will lead panelists Anmol Malhotra, global head of sports partnerships, Snap; Esmeralda Negron, co-CEO, women’s sport, DAZN; Andrew Reich, senior industry specialist, media and entertainment, games, sports, AWS; and Wim Sweldens, co-founder/CMO, Kiswe, in sharing latest insights around fandom.

“Private 5G, Mobile & Ultra-Low Latency: Lessons Learned from a Summer in Paris,” a case study by Silver Sponsor Haivision and presented by Haivision VP, Product Management, Ghislain Colette, will explore creating innovative and immersive camera viewpoints to power live sports and innovation for major sports and entertainment events and the benefits for producers and rightsholders.

Rounding off the panel talks, “Niche Sports on the Block” will discuss how a rise in accessibility enables niche and new sports and leagues in the U.S. and internationally to reach their legions of passionate fans and how they grow their brands through OTT and the digital space, using scalable solutions to drive international expansion, investment, sponsorship, and greater monetization. Moderated by Jeff Jacobs, SVP/head of production, NEP Group, the panel will feature Nic Benson, CEO, Major League Rugby, and Lowell Conn, president, Protocol Sports Marketing, with more panelists to be announced.

The afternoon panel sessions conclude with the popular “Pitch Perfect” session. Lingopal.AI, Hand (Human & Digital), Dynavisual, StoyCo, and other companies new to SPORTEL with an innovative or market-ready business mode will make their pitch in front of a jury of experts.

The session will run in parallel with a final round of tabletop networking, and all participants are invited to join SVG’s Opening Night Reception to continue the talks and networking.
