TNT Sports Giving Emirates NBA Cup Knockout Games the Altcast Treatment With NBA 2K25 DataCast Presentation
The immersive viewing experience will be broadcast on truTV and streamed on Max
Story Highlights
The ranks of live sports alternative broadcasts continue to grow, with TNT Sports the latest to join the fray. In collaboration with NBA 2K and Genius Sports, TNT Sports will offer an immersive NBA 2K25 DataCast viewing experience on truTV and Max during the Knockout Rounds of the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup. The presentation joins a busy altcast slate for December, following ESPN’s Simpsons Funday Football NFL broadcast on Dec. 9, NBC’s EA SPORTS Madden NFL Cast on Dec. 21, and ESPN’s Dunk the Halls Disney-themed NBA presentation on Christmas Day.
The NBA 2K25 Look: Shot Meter, 2K Badges, Official 2K Camera Angles
Viewers will see NBA 2K25 overlays, such as the iconic Shot Meter, 2K badges, and official 2K camera angles. Split-second game insights — player tracking, shot probability, shot distance — powered by Genius Sports’ GeniusIQ will be embedded throughout the telecasts. The first-of-its-kind alternative viewing experience will feature contributions by Vince Carter, Candace Parker, Channing Frye, Adam Lefkoe, Kirk Goldsberry, and others.
The alternative telecast, which will be available during live game coverage of the quarterfinals and semifinals, will blur the lines between the videogame and the real NBA experience.
Fans who tune into the NBA 2K25 DataCast broadcasts will have the opportunity to redeem six NBA 2K25 Locker Codes, each unlocking an Amethyst MyTEAM pack and allowing players to choose one of 11 NBA superstars to build the ultimate MyTEAM lineup. Users must have NBA 2K25, and there is a limit of one per 2K account (available for a limited time and terms apply).
Diving Deeper Into Data
NBA 2K25 DataCast broadcasts will build on TNT’s ongoing data-focused alternative-broadcast efforts. In May, TNT Sports’ NHL Western Conference Final coverage included the first-ever NHL DataCast Powered by AWS, an analytics-driven alternative broadcast available on linear television on truTV and streaming on Max.
In October, TNT Sports featured the MLB DataCast throughout the entire ALCS. The analytics-driven alternative broadcast on truTV and Max took fans deeper inside the game of baseball via data feeds from StatCast, Inside Edge, and Ross Video. The presentation offered individual player batting, fielding and pitching trends, and analysis of player strengths and weaknesses, along with real-time custom graphics and 3D renderings of the biggest moments of the series.
Other TNT Sports alternative broadcasts have included the NHL on TNT Chiclets ALTCAST in February, NBA All-Star Game ALTCAST Presented by Jordan Brand later that month, and the MultiVersus NHL Face-Off in April.
