The New Studio Show: How Fox Sports Takes XR and Virtual Production to New Heights

Fox Sports' Zac Fields offer a look at what it takes to make this tech sing from a graphics design perspective

Virtual production is changing the face of sports studio shows and FOX Sports has established itself as one of the leaders in the space in the United States. As the network descends on New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX, it’s expected to have yet another impressive on-site studio activation to host shoulder programming surrounding the Big Game.
Since launching groundbreaking studio projects in recent years with its LED-fueled FOX NFL Sunday studio in L.A.; and AR-powered 2022 FIFA World Cup set in Doha, FOX Sports changed the game once again last summer with a new 360-degree immersive XR studio environment for its coverage of the EUROs and Copa America this past summer.
In this exclusive conversation, Zac Fields, SVP, Graphics Technology and Integration at Fox Sports takes you inside the two-story virtual studio based at FOX’s cutting-edge Stage A in L.A., which boasts 5,130 sq. ft. of LED space and is anchored by state-of-the-art extended-realty (XR) multicam technology.
