FanDuel Sports Network Launching ‘Countdown Live’ Live Weekday Whip-Around Show

The studio show joins the broadcaster’s growing original-programming lineup

FanDuel Sports Network has unveiled plans for a new live one-hour whip-around show hosted by former ESPN SportsCenter anchor Stan Verrett. Premiering on Monday, Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. ET and airing weeknights, FanDuel Sports Network Countdown Live is designed to give fans a lead-in to live game coverage from the broadcaster’s local team on a national scale with onsite coverage, look-ins to warmups, breaking news, fantasy insights, betting storylines, and more.

Launching with NBA and NHL coverage this fall, the show will expand to run year-round, adding MLB broadcasts next spring, as a central part of the weekday schedule.

The show will tap the broadcaster’s reporters and analysts to give fans an inside look at each matchup on FanDuel’s portfolio of 16 RSNs across the country. According to Variety, the broadcaster is also having conversations with other RSNs to include their games and their matchups in Countdown Live.

“The launch of Countdown Live marks another important milestone as we continue to invest in original content and expand the scope of live programming across FanDuel Sports Network,” says Norby Williamson, president, programming and production, Main Street Sports Group, the broadcaster’s parent company. “What makes this show different is how it taps into the teams and markets we’re closest to, giving fans everywhere a real inside look at the night’s action. Stan brings tremendous experience and credibility, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him lead this new chapter for the network.”

Verrett, known for his work on  L.A.-based editions of SportsCenter alongside co-host Neil Everett, left ESPN in May and recently joined FanDuel Sports Network SoCal as host of the Los Angeles Clippers pre/postgame shows.

“I’ve long admired the way local fans live and breathe their teams,” says Verrett, “and I’m thrilled to join FanDuel Sports Network to help bring that passion to life every night. What drew me here was the chance to do meaningful work that connects with fans on both a national and a local level. Sports are about community, and I’m looking forward to being part of the team that brings that energy to viewers every day.”

Countdown Live joins the broadcaster’s weekday lineup with Golic & Golic and will be available across multiple platforms: FanDuel Sports Network, the FanDuel Sports Network app, and Prime Video, with more platforms to be announced.
