Daktronics’ Women In Sports Event Focuses on Fostering Environment of Excellence

Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, welcomes Katelyn Smith, Athletic Director at Adams State University, to the next Women in Sports online event scheduled for December 9 at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Smith plans to share her focus on fostering an environment of excellence in both athletics and academics, evidenced by her yearly total of more than 520 student-athletes maintaining average GPAs above 3.0.

Entering her sixth year as Athletic Director for the Grizzlies, Smith has instilled consistency, including an annual presence in the top 20 of the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings from 2021 to the present day. She leans on her history as an assistant women’s basketball coach, athletic department business manager, and current NCAA men’s and women’s cross country committee member, all of which led to her current role as athletic director.

Through the years, Smith has also led many key infrastructure projects, from field turf upgrades to bolstering fundraising efforts.

“I’m really looking forward to hearing from Katelyn Smith during this event, and the mindset and determination she’s had in leading these projects,” says Val Ellens, Services Marketing for Daktronics. “Her dedication and leadership is perfect for this audience and I’m excited for everyone to hear her words of wisdom.”
