Live From MLB All-Star: Wave Central RF ‘Rock Solid’ for Broadcasters, In-Venue Production

Wireless cameras are playing a major role in both the TV-broadcast and in-house game productions for the MLB All-Star Game this week, and Wave Central is on hand at Washington’s Nationals Park with a full arsenal of wireless gear to support them.

A total of 14 Wave Central RF cameras — supplied by CP Communications — are being deployed by Fox Sports, ESPN, MLB Network, NHK, and others for their productions.

“Being able to deliver reliable, maximum coverage in both licensed and unlicensed frequencies for an event of this size is no simple trick,” says Wave Central EVP Anthony Sangiovanni. “Having cutting-edge technology at our product’s core makes it a little easier.”

In addition, the Washington Nationals own two Wave Central AX-SSK side-panel RF kits, which are mounted on Sony HDC-2400 cameras.

According to Sangiovanni, the Nationals in-venue production team say that, of all the various issues involved in a massive event like the MLB All-Star Game, the RF cameras aren’t one of them and the systems are “running rock solid.”
