NAB 2017: Aperi Teams With LeaseWeb To Offer New-Media Cloud Services

In a move that further enables the broadcast industry to benefit from native-IP live-production infrastructures, Aperi (Booth SU11413) will partner with LeaseWeb, a leading cloud hosting provider, which offers global Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), including dedicated servers, cloud-based servers, CDN services, cybersecurity solutions, colocation, and hybrid-cloud offerings. The partnership will enable LeaseWeb to offer new media services within its IaaS offering based on Aperi’s Live Media Processing Virtualization platform, which includes FPGA acceleration.

At the same time, LeaseWeb parent Ocom BV has confirmed that it will join Aperi as an investor. This announcement comes as Aperi and its industry-first native-IP platform are gaining significant recognition by content producers, facilities providers, and infrastructure operators worldwide. The company has garnered multiple customer deployments since its official launch at NAB 2016.

“LeaseWeb coming on board at Aperi comes at a great time, not only for us but for the industry,” says Aperi CEO Joop Janssen. “They have an excellent name in the cloud hosting sector so the investment and the services enabled by the partnership will contribute to Aperi’s ongoing development and help to take us to the next level.”

LeaseWeb is headquartered in Amsterdam and has more than 40 PoPs around the world, including multiple sites in the U.S. The joint Aperi-LeaseWeb service will benefit from easy deployment using dedicated and cloud hosting services, and \any global content producer or service operator can immediately experience the advantages of Aperi’s live production platform.

“Aperi’s customer base and industry recognition are growing at an impressive rate because the platform is the clearest example of the direction the live-production industry is moving in,” says Con Zwinkels, CEO, LeaseWeb Global BV. “We’ve always worked in the most innovative ways we can, and this is just another example of that.”

The LeaseWeb platform resides on one of the largest, most reliable networks in the world, boasting 5.5-Tbps bandwidth capacity and 99.999% core uptime. Thanks also to state-of-the-art data centers and a broad choice of technologies, LeaseWeb is able to deliver an industry-leading portfolio of solutions, from bare metal to public and private clouds. All LeaseWeb solutions are easy to configure and manage. The intuitive customer portal and API allows users to set up infrastructure exactly as wanted, deploy new services on demand, and keep on top of all costs.

Aperi’s native-IP media production and networking enables simple remote production in both HD and 4K and gives users complete flexibility. With the platform, operators can quickly spin up and down multiple production services for time and resource savings.

The company has a growing number of apps available from leading developers in the Aperi App Store, and flexible floating licenses allow customers to offer the latest required services and functionalities at a fraction of today’s production costs.
