NAB 2019: Sony To Show Off Newest Additions for Production Community

Sony (booth C11001) will unveil its latest portfolio of products, services, and solutions designed to empower and future-proof the success of broadcast and media customers in today’s competitive landscape.

“In a world where TV streaming services are overtaking traditional pay-TV, mobile media consumption is rapidly increasing with consumers expecting better on-demand quality content than ever before – across more platforms. There’s never been a better time for organizations to future-proof their businesses with new media services that will allow them to adapt to the new landscape. Our mission is to help our customers on that journey,’’ explains Stuart Almond, Head of Marketing, Sony Professional Solutions Europe.

Content Creation & Cinematography
Sony will demonstrate the latest in 4K, UHD, and HDR, spanning the full content creation workflow, from capture through to archive, offering media companies new ways to increase the value of their content, better engage their audiences and deliver greater color, detail, and contrast.

“4K production itself has become the de facto industry standard, with consumers increasingly demanding 4K content in their own homes,” continues Almond. “Research has highlighted that over 80 million 4K UHD TVs were set to be shipped by the end of 2018 and HDR is a feature in 60% of them.”[1]

In cinematography, Sony continues to work closely with creators to offer solutions which allow them to convey emotion in every frame. Visitors will be able to experience Sony’s next generation full-frame motion picture camera system, VENICE, most recently used to shoot political thriller ‘Official Secrets’, including the recently released firmware Version 3.0 (and upcoming Version 4.0) as well as its Extension System (CBK-3610XS) which is currently being used to shoot the AVATAR sequels.

Sony will be also showcasing its wider range of solutions designed to support filmmakers in their mission to deliver emotional impact on screen. The versatile PXW-FS7 II camcorder will be on show alongside the compact 4K PXW-FS5 II camcorder. While the latest BVM-HX310 TRIMASTER HX Professional Master Monitor will also be on stand with the 16.5-inch TRIMASTER EL OLED critical reference monitor, BVM-E171.

News, IP, and Live Production
One of the biggest challenges facing broadcasters today is the pressure to create high-quality content while keeping production costs to a minimum. From its recent flagship 4K handheld camcorder PXW-Z280 and 4K compact camcorder PXW-Z190 to its range of cloud-native media production solutions, Sony will show how its tools are driving flexibility and efficiency across the production workflow.

Furthermore, its newest additions to the HDC family will be on display: the HDC-P50 Point of View (POV) system camera, the portable system camera HDC-3500, as well as the affordable Fiber and Triax system cameras, HDC-3100 and HDC-3170.

As more and more customers choose Sony´s IP Live Solutions and the industry continues to gear up for an IP-powered future, Sony is continuing to invest in IP Live interoperability with commitment to driving further industry standards, and the development of solutions that are ready today, open for tomorrow.
