NAB 2019: VSN Spotlights Flexible, Interoperable Solutions for Content Value

At NAB 2019, VSN (booth SL7606) will showcase a range of solutions based on standard IT infrastructure that respond to the creation, distribution, and management needs of any organization looking to better leverage the value of its content.

“Visitors to our NAB stand will see a range of solutions unified by common themes – interoperability, seamless workflows, intuitive ease of use, flexibility and increased efficiency,” says Patricia Corral, Marketing Director, VSN. “Thanks to VSN’s software tools, broadcast companies can better manage their activities, increase productivity, automate processes and improve the integration between systems and departments – maximizing the performance of their assets.”

Seamless workflow for news production
An add-on for the VSNExplorer platform for media and workflow management, the VSNExplorer Plugin for Newsroom allows broadcast and media companies to interconnect leading NRCS, CG, NLE, studio playout systems, and videoservers, among others, within a single, intuitive, centralized workspace to create a seamless workflow for news production.

In essence, the VSNExplorer Plugin for Newsroom is a MOS Web Plugin developed in HTML5 that allows companies to create their news production work environment their way, by choosing the systems that best suit their specific needs and simply interconnecting all of them through this plugin. For instance, by using this plugin, a user can display all the assets stored in the MAM system inside the NRCS GUI of their choice; make quick video edits by cut; unify the video files with graphics; drag and drop them into the NRCS stories; and even send them directly to broadcast and/or publishing on social media and second screens. The VSNExplorer Plugin for Newsroom allows journalists to become much more efficient while saving time and cost as a result of significantly increasing the automation of their workflows by working within a unique workspace.

“For the first time, this open standards-based web plugin allows journalists to create content without restrictions, offering access to all the tools they need for their daily news operations from a single interface,” says Aaron López, COO at VSN. “Now, broadcast and media companies can decide how they want to produce their news and the VSNExplorer Plugin for Newsroom helps them to interconnect all their tools to make it work their way.”

Content sharing made easy
Designed for environments in which media content of all types – including news, sports, advertising, programs, films and TV series – needs to be exchanged, managed and available to more than one location, VSN’s new Media Exchange solution acts like a content hub in the cloud. It can also be hosted on-premise. The solution easily, cost-effectively and securely increases content visibility, enabling fast, simple sharing of resources and delivering improved productivity and cost savings.

The Media Exchange solution is flexible and highly customizable, and is capable of being simply adapted to the specific requirements of almost any organization or application. It is, for example, possible to create content subscriptions for individual media entities that will automate file movement and optimize file transfers according to the entity’s subscription profile. Dashboards and reports enable an analysis of each entity’s activity, while content forecasts also enable organizations to plan in advance the production of concrete content pieces.

“Our Media Exchange solution has already been widely implemented by customers,” says López. “They can now eliminate their dependence on manual tasks, and completely automate and centralize all their communications and management workflows in a much more efficient and flexible way.”

Improving efficiency and flexibility
With its intuitive, easy-to-use web interface, the VSNCrea traffic and scheduling system was developed to enable broadcasters to make quick and accurate decisions about when to broadcast a given piece of content. It enables the management of a company’s content production catalog, whether owned or acquired, as well as its advertising, production workflows, programming, playlists, running order and broadcast planning. It also provides invaluable additional information such as analytical data about the true profitability/RoI of content and programming.

VSNCrea is HTML5-based, giving users substantial flexibility, and is available as cloud-based, hosted on-premise or via a SaaS model. It is compatible with a broad range of MCR automation systems and EPG standards, and is both multi-language and multi-regional. Additionally, VSNCrea is a multitenant system, meaning that a single instance of the software can serve multiple clients or organizations, allowing for greater saving of costs.

“Professionals working for TV companies, radio stations or web platforms value efficiency and flexibility when scheduling their programming – and that’s what VSNCrea delivers,” says Oriol Egea, VSNCrea Development Manager. “It allows them to organize and control their channel’s programming at any time, from anywhere. From general simulations for the whole season to programming and scheduling for a specific day or week, VSNCrea is highly adaptable to a range of use cases.”

This first version of the system will continue to evolve through 2019 and is expected to include new features such as integration with software for billing before the end of the year.
