Live From FIFA World Cup: Fox Sports' Rod Conti Walks Through the Four Studio Sets at the Doha Corniche

Traditionally, Fox Sports is known for blowing out their onsite studio presence for both international and domestic events under its sports-broadcasting umbrella. In the case of showcasing the FIFA World Cup, the broadcaster has no problem diving headfirst into the atmosphere surrounding the host nation. After constructing a primary set in front of Moscow’s Red Square during the 2018 FIFA Men’s World Cup in Russia, Fox Sports’ VP, Remote Studio Operations, Rod Conti and his team have upped the ante with four unique studio sets on the Doha Corniche that measure a total of 148 x 33 ft. along Doha Bay.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, Conti provides a walkthrough of each set, the goal that each space is offering to their linear and digital efforts, how they’re properly and accurately portraying the authenticity of Qatari culture, the technologies used to create the stunning LED floor and walls in the Penta Center set, the work needed to bring each piece together, and why this particular location was the perfect choice for prematch, halftime, and postmatch coverage of this tournament.
