SVG SportsTech On Demand: CTI's Jim Wile on the Growth and Unique Needs of Esports Venues
In an effort to keep the broadcast-technology community informed this spring, throughout April, SVG is hosting a series of SportsTech On Demand video interviews with executives from the industry’s top technology vendors discussing their latest product releases and company news. Our Jason Dachman sat down with Jim Wile, Atlanta branch director, Conference Technologies, Inc., about the company’s efforts.
Esports competitions are hosted in a variety of venues, from small theaters to large-scale stadiums and arenas built for sporting events, and now environments built specifically for esports. Technology is an important focus of all sporting venues, and even more specifically at esports competitions, so what is the role of the broadcast integrator at these venues? In addition, Esports venue design requires much more digital inventory than traditional sports. The inventory in an Esport specific venue could include personal screens, feeds that display player statistics across signage throughout the arena, lighting and in-venue effects that enhance the fan experience and infrastructure required to live stream events for global spectators.
CTI’s objective is to collaborate on the design to build an overall immersive experience. The company is looking to develop a solution for esports events and productions built to serve the special needs and demands of the entire esports community, while also serving the dedicated needs of the owners and sponsors. With the future forward development of virtual & augmented reality technology, CTI designs enhance both the gamer and fan experience to create a more intimate in-venue experience.
