SVG SportsTech On Demand: Veritone's Ryan Steelberg Explains the Power of "Smart Content," Shares New Project DraftClips.com

In an effort to keep the broadcast-technology community informed this spring, throughout April, SVG is hosting a series of SportsTech On Demand video interviews with executives from the industry’s top technology vendors discussing their latest product releases and company news. Our Brandon Costa sat down with Ryan Steelberg, president, Veritone about the company’s efforts.

“Smart content” and metadata-filled video content is proving extremely valuable in today’s enviroment as sports content creators of all shapes and sizes are digging into their archives to tell stories at a time where live sports has come to a halt. Steelberg explains what ‘smart content’ actually means, how hyper-indexed structured data can be created by leveraging AI technologies, and also shares examples of how Veritone customers – like ESPN and MLB’s San Francisco Giants – are accelerating their processes and generating incremental revenue from their content.

In addition, Steelberg dives into a new project called DraftClips.com, a website portal powered by Veritone aiWARE giving sports fans free access to exclusive college football footage featuring more than 30,000 clips and hundreds of hours of highly curated video footage of 2020 top draft prospects.
