PyeongChang 2018: NBC Olympics Selects Tektronix Test Equipment For Its Production Of Winter Games

NBC Olympics, a division of NBC Sports Group, has selected Tektronix to provide audio/video and network monitoring for its production of the Winter Olympics, which take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, from Feb. 8-25. The announcement was made by Terry Adams, Vice President, IBC Engineering, NBC Olympics, and Charlie Dunn, General Manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix.

NBC Olympics will use Tektronix WFM7200, WVR7200, WFM5200, and WVR5200 Waveform Monitors, SPG8000A Master Sync and Master Clock Reference Generators to support its coverage of PyeongChang 2018.

The equipment will be used to monitor and test the quality of video and audio content used in NBC Olympics’ production, post-production, transmission and distribution workflows in NBC facilities. For HDR/4K applications, NBC will use WFM8300
Waveform Monitors and NBC will also depend on the Tektronix Sentry products for monitoring of the transport streams involved in its production.

“We are pleased to once again have Tektronix as our partner for NBC’s coverage of the Olympics,” said Adams.

“During the course of our decade-long relationship with Tektronix, the focus has traditionally been on sync generation and waveform monitoring. While this is still very important, Tektronix transport stream monitoring has also become a significant part of our production as well.”

“By using proven Tektronix solutions, NBC Olympics is well-positioned to deliver the highest quality experience possible to its viewers,” said Dunn.
