11:00 – 11:15 a.m.: Broadcaster/League perspectives
Is there a sweet spot for cloud-based live production in terms of the size of a show (eg. 8-10 cameras or a remote studio show vs. a 20-30 camera show)? What is preventing big-time shows from considering a move to cloud-based production?

Led by SVG’s Sports Content Management Advisory Committee, this off-the-record roundtable discussion will provide media-management leaders from broadcasters, leagues, teams, digital outlets, and vendors with an opportunity to address a variety of hot-button issues currently facing the industry.

Imagen Technology Spotlight

TOPIC 1: Where Are We Now? Lessons Learned and What Has Stuck From the Pandemic
The pandemic drastically accelerated adoption of remote workflows and cloud-based technologies, and these elements have become integral to sports-media organizations’ media-management and postproduction ecosystems. What tools will “stick around” from the pandemic and how do you see them transforming production workflows in the future?

Spectra Logic Technology Spotlight

TOPIC 2: Clouds in Our Forecast: Managing Cloud-Storage Costs and Maximizing Utilization in the Modern Age
With the race to the cloud picking up speed over the past two years to serve remote-production workflows, many organizations have seen cloud-storage costs skyrocket. This raises tough new questions for media-management teams: Should you try to keep your entire archive in the cloud? If not, where do you draw the line in terms of retaining content? And how can you automate these decisions to create best practices that utilize your cloud storage as efficiently as possible?

Seagate Technology Spotlight

TOPIC 3: Archive Storage – The Final Frontier?: Planning for the Future of Your Archive While Embracing Next-Gen Technology
What does the future hold for the next generation of storage and what emerging tech will change the way your organization operates in the next five years? In 10 years? How will NVMe, HAMR, LTO-10, and other bleeding-edge technologies factor into the industry? Will we see more pure silicon-based solutions and less tape-based and spinning-disk storage from manufacturers? This conversation will look to incorporate both users and manufacturers for an honest, transparent discussion of what’s ahead.

TOPIC 4: Crystal-Ball Predictions: Five Years, 10 Years, and 20 Years Ahead
The day will close with an interactive exercise in which each roundtable participant will write three predictions on colored sticky notes — a different color for five years, for 10 years, and for 20 years in the future. These predictions will be assembled on a whiteboard and reviewed by the entire group to provide a glimpse into the future of media-asset management and storage, while getting a few laughs in the process.
