SVG College Kickoff: The Return to Live Sports
October 27, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
SVG College Kickoff: The Return of Live Sports
An SVG College Initiative Virtual Event
presented in association with Canon, Daktronics, Grass Valley, LiveU, and Panasonic
Tuesday, October 27 | 2 p.m. ET
Following a lengthy and dark layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic, collegiate sports has slowly, but surely, begun to return on campuses across the country.
In this very special SVG College event, SVG College Kickoff: The Return to Live Sports, learn from and network with video directors from across collegiate athletics as they break down the types of content they are creating, how they are doing it safely, and what you can do to prepare if your conference is returning to action very soon or in the coming months.
Join us to participate in this valuable conversation with schools of all sizes who are working under extremely unique circumstances to continue to deliver valuable video content for broadcast and/or the live in-venue videoboard show.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This event will be hosted on a new event platform for us: Shindig. This is the first time we will be using this platform, so we will offer you a quick tutorial on how to get the most out of it. Shindig is designed not only to present speakers and panels but it encourages audience networking.
In addition to standard, text-based chat, you will be able to participate in video chats with other members of the audience in groups ranging from 2-6 people. We hope that, in addition to enjoying the event programming, you will have the opportunity to connect with colleagues in the audience or make new connections with schools of your similar staffing and budget size.
2:00 p.m. ET: Welcoming Remarks
NOTE: A representative from our platform provider, Shindig, will also provide a quick walkthrough of the networking features available for you to use within the system.
2:10 p.m. ET: SVG College Initiative Technology Update
Our valued SVG College Initiative sponsors [Canon, Daktronics, Grass Valley, LiveU, and Panasonic] will take the virtual stage to introduce themselves and provide quick updates on the latest support and services available to you at this unique time.
2:20 p.m. ET: Opening Networking Time
Utilizing the text or video chat options, take this time to connect with industry colleagues in the audience to catch up and share ideas/struggles with each other. Reps from our SVG College Initiative sponsors [Canon, Daktronics, Grass Valley, LiveU, and Panasonic] will also be available to answer any of your questions.
2:35 p.m. ET: Panel Discussion: The Return of Live Sports – What We’ve Learned and How to Prepare
Athletic department video directors of diverse staffing and budget sizes break down what the return to live sports has been like for they and their teams. What types of content are they creating? How they are doing it safely? What you can do to prepare if your conference is returning to action very soon or in the coming months?
Moderator: Brandon Costa, SVG, Director of Digital
Megan Coffey, University of Cincinnati, Associate Director/Creative Services and Multimedia
Eric Frey, Virginia Tech, Senior Director, ACC Network Operations
Tyler Rutherford, Iowa State University, Assistant AD/Digital Media
3:35 p.m. ET: Additional Open Networking Time
Following the panel, the programmed portion of the event will be complete, but we’ll keep the event open for you to continue networking with your peers or to poke around in the system.
