Wowza Media Systems Adds Barix to Tech Alliance Partner Program

Audio over IP manufacturer Barix has become a Wowza Media Systems Tech Alliance partner, giving customers of both companies a tested, proven, and interoperable solution for live and on-demand audio streaming. The non-exclusive partnership is a strong example of trusted industry vendors working together to simplify the Audio over IP ecosystem in support of online content delivery.

Wowza Streaming Engine transports the real-time input stream from the Instreamer in support of live radio streams, on-demand podcasts and other audio content.

“As broadcasters evolve how they deliver content to reach more listeners and support new business models, it’s vital that hardware manufacturers and software companies address interoperability across networked audio systems,” sais Reto Brader, VP of sales and marketing, Barix. “Barix is working with a variety of industry-leading streaming providers to simplify the technology adaptations of content providers worldwide. Our partnership with Wowza is a prime example of two innovators coming together to help broadcasters design effective and comprehensive streaming networks from the input point through to the delivery and playout phase.”

Although the main focus is to support online and mobile delivery to consumers, the integrated Barix and Wowza solution can support many networked audio transport requirements in broadcast and beyond.

“We’re invested in helping our customers establish reliable end-to-end systems for delivery of broadcast-quality audio to multiple locations, in many formats, and over varied transport architectures and distribution networks,” says David Stubenvoll, CEO and co-founder, Wowza Media Systems. “Partnering with Audio over IP experts like Barix allows our customers to more effectively and cost-efficiently architect networked audio systems tailored to their specific content delivery needs.”

The Barix and Wowza Media Systems partnership was initially explored through a customer request, according to both companies. That customer, SportsLabs, is using the integrated Barix and Wowza solution to power its Advanced Media Platform, which today manages more than 15,000 live video and audio events; and ingests more than 950 unique content feeds associated with online and mobile streaming of sports content.

Representatives from Barix and Wowza Media Systems will discuss the partnership and demonstrate the integration at the 2016 NAB Show (April 18-21, Las Vegas Convention Center). Barix will share space at the LineQ booth (C1139). LineQ is Barix’s premier US distributor and a specialist in IP Audio streaming and end point systems, also representing Ecler (powered mixers/amplifiers) and Cornered Sound (loudspeakers). Wowza Media Systems will exhibit at Booth SU5324.
