Warner Bros. Discovery Rebrands WBD Sports to TNT Sports

This week, Warner Bros. Discovery rebranded its sports division in the United States to TNT Sports.

The name sees one of the U.S. sports television’s biggest brands take the moniker of one of its biggest cable channels and unifies branding with British and Latin American outfits of the same name.

TNT Sports, the formerly-branded Turner Sports, is home to major sports properties like the NBA, Major League Baseball, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament (which it shares distribution and production rights with CBS Sports), the NHL, and others. It’s also the parent company to digital brands like Bleacher Report, NCAA Digital, and Golf Digest.

Late last year, Warner Bros. Discovery’s rebranded streaming service Max (formerly HBO Max) launched a sports tier that it names B/R Sports (named after Bleacher Report). There’s plans to make it a paid tier in the coming months.

It remains to be seen if any digital-facing braninds of these sorts will change names to TNT Sports.

It was about a year ago that the global WBD corporation announced its decision to rebrand BT Sport in the United Kingdom.
