Is Your Corporation Looking To Support Victims of L.A. Fires? Donate to Sports Broadcasting Fund Today
Story Highlights
The terrible wildfires in Los Angeles are a seminal event that will change the future of Los Angeles forever. But we are already seeing, out of the ashes, stories of inspiration, hope, and giving, whether via food for residents (and pets in shelters), clothing for those who lost everything, or, of course, housing. For companies involved with the Sports Video Group, as either a member or a sponsor, there is a way to help the SVG Sports Broadcasting Fund continue to make a difference: by donating today.

In the past few weeks, the Sports Broadcasting Fund has done what it does best in a situation like this: respond quickly and proactively with help for those in need. We responded in Florida and North Carolina after the hurricanes last fall, offering financial assistance by paying a wide range of bills on recipients’ behalf so that they could focus on rebuilding their lives and their communities.
The challenge the Sports Broadcasting Fund faces is that the situation in Los Angeles is clearly going to require months, if not years, of on-going support. As a result, SVG has set up a dedicated fund with all money earmarked for those in need in Los Angeles.
Our goal is to raise more than $200,000 so that we can do more and reach deeper into the sports-broadcasting community. Already, we have distributed more than $100,000 to members of that community (and to those who work for professional sports teams in the area) impacted by the fires in Los Angeles. And we expect those needs only to continue to grow.
So how can your company help? By donating today. Rest assured, the money is being put to good use, with more than 95% of every donation going directly to those in need, thanks to the volunteer force that keeps the fund humming.
Step One: Find out if your company has a corporate giving fund.
Step Two: If it does, please tell them to reach out to Carrie Bowden (carrie@sportsvideo.org), who is the administrator of the fund and can help them figure out the best way to get a payment to us (checks are preferred as it avoids losing 4% of the donation to a credit-card company. Every penny counts!).
Step Three: Donate yourself using this link and type “LA Fire Fund” in the box to earmark it for a specific fund or person.
Or, alternatively, write a check (and write LA Fire Fund in the memo line) and mail it to:
