Texas Rangers Launch Rangers Sports Network To Produce, Distribute Live Games

RSN encompasses all aspects of game production, from staffing to tech

Following this month’s announcement of a deal that will make Victory+ the streaming home for all Texas Rangers regional broadcasts next season, the team’s broadcast situation for 2025 and beyond also is coming into focus. On Monday, the club announced formation of Rangers Sports Media & Entertainment, a company whose subsidiaries are Rangers Sports Network (RSN), newly created to produce and distribute the team’s games and other content, and REV Entertainment.

Rangers Sports Network will serve as exclusive local-television home of the Rangers, overseeing production and distribution for game broadcasts. It is available within the Rangers’ TV territory through selected broadcast-television, cable, satellite, and streaming platforms. RSN encompasses all aspects of game production, including selection of on-air talent, camera and audio resources, direction of broadcast technical aspects, and behind-the-scenes staffing. Its production capabilities will also be deployed in content creation for in-game elements and other potential placement.

REV Entertainment is the Rangers’ official sports and entertainment partner, including serving as official booking agent for both Globe Life Field and Choctaw Stadium in Arlington, TX. The company has expanded to encompass several entities focused on enhancing the sports and entertainment industry nationwide: REV Events, REV Production Services, REV Sports Management, and REV Sports Marketing — verticals focused on driving revenue, booking venues, generating development, operating professional sports franchises, venue management, and more. Neil Leibman will serve as chairman of Rangers Sports Media & Entertainment and oversee both RSN and REV Entertainment. Part of the ownership group for the Rangers, he will relinquish previous team responsibilities as president of business operations and COO.

Jim Cochrane has been promoted to EVP and chief business officer. The 28-year veteran of the Rangers front office will continue to have oversight of all business revenue areas for the club and additional responsibilities for other departments, including marketing and ballpark operations.

“One of the main goals when seeking solutions for Rangers television broadcasts was to give fans more access to our games,” says Rangers majority owner Ray Davis. “We determined that the best path toward providing our fans with more options is to handle many of the broadcast obligations in-house.

“By forming Rangers Sports Network to address the various production responsibilities for team broadcasts and content,” he continues, “we feel the entity is in a strong position to deliver for Rangers fans as well as to execute other potential broadcast opportunities in the future. REV Entertainment has served as a valuable asset for the organization since it was launched in 2021, and it will continue to grow under this new structure.”

Under a deal announced on Jan. 15, the Rangers is partnering with APMC, whose Victory+ becomes the direct-to-consumer streaming home for all Texas Rangers regional television broadcasts. The agreement represents the first element of the Rangers’ effort to provide fans with multiple viewing options for game broadcasts this year. The Rangers expect to announce final details regarding those options in the coming days. The most up-to-date information regarding the club’s broadcast options can be found at rangers.com/tunein.
