SVG New Sponsor Spotlight: CSP Mobile Productions’ Len Chase on Upgrading Truck Fleet to 1080p, HDR, and ST 2110
Story Highlights
CSP Mobile Productions, a Maine-based mobile production provider, has five mobile units in its fleet serving coast-to-coast broadcast clients that include ESPN, CBS Sports, HBCU GO and others, as well as offering full technical services. As the live-sports-production industry shifts to 1080p and IP-based workflows, CSP is updating its fleet to meet their evolving needs.
After upgrading one of its mobile units to 1080p last year to work with the New England Patriots, CSP’s truck was lost in a fire on the highway in April of this year. Rather than take a step backward, CSP converted another unit (HD2) to full 1080p and is now upgrading HD1 to 1080p with completion expected in early next year. The entire fleet has also had older gear updated with the top-of-the-line equipment, including EVS XT-VIA2 replay servers.
In addition, CSP is now building a replacement truck for the unit lost in April, with plans to launch its first SMPTE 2110 IP-based mobile unit in the summer of 2026. Alongside the new IP-2110 truck, CSP is progressing on a 1080p REMI-production facility and improving other existing assets for HDR/1080p work.
SVG sat down with Len Chase, President, CSP Mobile Productions, to discuss how his team handled the loss of a truck, how other mobile unit vendors helped out, and what’s ahead in 2026 – including its 30th Boston Marathon – as the company continues to upgrade its fleet.
