Golf Has a New Home: MagentaTV Will Launch its Complete Offering on Two New TV Channels Starting in January 2026

The green is turning magenta! Telekom has acquired the largest international golf package. Starting in January 2026, MagentaTV will present an extensive live golf offering with 131 tournaments. The year-round program is available to MagentaTV customers at no extra charge and is included in all subscription plans. MagentaSport customers can also access the offering on the MagentaSport platforms as part of their subscription at no additional cost. The new golf contract runs until 2029.

“Golf has a new home on MagentaTV. With this package, we are offering Germany’s most comprehensive live golf coverage ever. From the first flights to the final, we will show every tournament like never before – live, informative, and presented in a modern style. The package is aimed at experienced golf fans as well as young viewers who are discovering the sport,” says Arnim Butzen, Head of TV at Telekom.

The new rights package includes approximately 300 days of live golf per year on the two new golf channels (MS Golf 1 and MS Golf 2). These will be newly added to MagentaTV in January 2026. This will include features from top players, current stories, and historical content. Numerous other features will also be available on demand.

Legends of the sport, such as Germany’s most successful and well-known golf pro, Bernhard Langer, play on the PGA TOUR Champions.

An absolute highlight in 2027 and 2029: the prestigious Ryder Cup between the best golf professionals from Europe and the United States, the most important team golf tournament in the world – live and exclusively on MagentaTV and MagentaSport. The Ryder Cup will take place at Adare Manor in Ireland in 2027 and at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Minnesota, USA, in 2029.

The program is produced by thinXpool TV GmbH, the responsible broadcaster and editorial team, which has received the German Television Award in the sports category twice in a row for its outstanding coverage of MagentaSport.

The new golf year on MagentaTV and MagentaSport: from January 15th from Dubai and Hawaii

Around 300 days of live golf per year form the core of the new golf season. Starting January 15, 2026, with coverage from Dubai (Dubai Invitational) and Honolulu (Sony Open Hawaii), a year-round program will be presented on two dedicated MagentaTV channels. The main channel, MS Golf 1, will broadcast all tournaments in their entirety, while MS Golf 2 will offer additional feeds, such as following individual groups of players throughout their rounds or highlighting standout moments. If the playing times of a PGA Tour event overlap with the DP World Tour, both events will be broadcast simultaneously.

In German-speaking countries, two tournaments stand out: the Austrian Alpine Open presented by Kitzbühel Tirol (May 28th to 31st, 2026) and the BMW International Open in Eichenried near Munich (July 2nd to 5th, 2026).

Up to 20 hours of live golf daily on tournament days

The broadcast philosophy follows the classic golf week: From Thursday to Sunday, all tournament days are broadcast live, sometimes with up to 20 hours of live action each day. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, additional content is offered, including analyses, “best of” formats, background stories and features, as well as selected live events from the Korn Ferry Tour featuring the world’s best young golfers. The tournaments run until the cut on the first two days, before the best players compete for victory over the weekend. Selected competitions are also offered free of charge on MagentaTV Freemium to introduce new audiences to the sport of golf.

Modern Storytelling for a Rapidly Growing Young Audience

Top reporters – plans for which are in full swing – will ensure high-quality, modern, and accessible coverage that reaches not only traditional golf fans but also, and especially, the rapidly growing younger fan base. With German personalities like Marcel Siem and Stephan Jäger, local ambassadors are on hand, playing a key role both on and off the course. In addition to TV coverage, MagentaSport’s social media channels will provide extensive coverage of the tours. Modern storytelling, strong personalities, and new formats will present golf in a more innovative way than ever before.
