Manuel Cerdeira Named VP of Production for ESPN Deportes and ESPN Mexico

ESPN appoints Manuel “Manu” Cerdeira as Vice President of Production, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Mexico.

With over 15 years of experience, in this new role, Cerdeira will lead all aspects of production in Mexico for ESPN Deportes and ESPN Mexico, including studio programs such as Fútbol Picante, SportsCenter, Equipo F, Generación, and others, as well as all live events produced for both markets.

He will also oversee the Talent Office in Mexico and guide the strategic production vision, ensuring its alignment with the editorial priorities for both ESPN Deportes and Mexico.

Cerdeira will report directly to Rodolfo Martínez, Senior Vice President of Production for ESPN Deportes and International Production.

Before assuming this new position, Cerdeira served as production coordinator, overseeing studio and live productions; he also played a key role in aligning editorial and operational processes across all Sports Mexico teams. Under his leadership, high production quality standards have been achieved, adapted to the evolving demands of multiplatform content.

“Manu’s impact has been fundamental to the growth and evolution of ESPN’s Spanish-language production in the United States, Mexico, and Central America,” Martínez notes. “His leadership at SportsCenter for more than a decade and his profound editorial vision for studio and live programming have helped define how to satisfy sports fans across all platforms. Manu is a respected leader and an example of developing internal talent at ESPN. I’m excited to see him thrive in this next chapter, one that marks an exciting new stage for our ESPN Deportes and ESPN Mexico teams.”

Cerdeira joined ESPN in 2003 as a production assistant. Throughout his career, he held every key role in ESPN’s production operation, from highlights supervisor to associate producer, producer, and coordinating producer.

He was one of the pioneering producers in the launch of ESPN Deportes, and helped define how the brand connects with Spanish-speaking sports fans in the U.S. For more than a decade, Cerdeira was also in charge of the editorial and production direction of SportsCenter, transforming this space into a dynamic, multi-edition franchise that at times delivered up to 11 editions a day, an achievement that helped solidify ESPN’s presence in the region.

Cerdeira will perform this new role from the ESPN studios in Mexico City.
