NAB 2017: Ventuz Features On-Air Graphics, AR, Integrated News Workflow

With the release of Ventuz 5.3, demonstrations of Octopus Newsroom Systems, and stage presentations with enhanced visual graphic elements and camera tracking, software developer Ventuz Technology positions itself as a go-to solution for on-air graphics workflows. In addition, it has expanded its partner list by offering an integration between the Ventuz software suite and the Octopus Newsroom System.

Ventuz Software Suite
The latest release of Ventuz Technology real-time graphics software suite has a variety of new features. A thoroughly updated SDI pipeline offers enhancements in the integration of video I/O hardware by the supported vendors, including Aja, Deltacast, Blackmagic, and DVS. Additionally, Ventuz 5.3 fully supports the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF), allowing integration of new web technologies, such as HTML5 websites and interaction with JavaScript.

Octopus is the latest NRCS solution with which Ventuz has established an integration via the MOS protocol. Booth visitors were able to examine the integration in a dedicated demo featuring the entire newsroom pipeline, including the recently enhanced SDI output via Deltacast.

Stage presentations provided detailed insight into the suite’s functionalities and interface, showcasing a broadcast-ready augmented-reality pipeline featuring the Ncam tracking system, which does not rely on artificial markers. Ncam is suited to on-location use.

Ventuz Technology also demonstrated the graphics power behind its real-time software solution with creative partners Meru Interactive and Xlab Realtime.

System Integration
By offering a comprehensive workflow with Octopus, Ventuz Technology aims to position itself as a go-to solution for on-air news graphics. Via the industry-standard MOS protocol, users of Octopus can take full advantage of the highly dynamic and reliable Ventuz graphics system, using state-of-the-art design and the extensive I/O functionalities to enhance their stories with striking visuals.

“We are honored to count Octopus among the newsroom systems that can operate with our software suite,” says David Paniego, product marketing manager, Ventuz Technology. “We especially appreciate that Octopus has taken the modern ways of communicating news content into account by offering easy distribution to social media and websites. Users of Octopus will be able to take full advantage of our 2D and 3D graphics-creation possibilities and give their graphics a special edge.”

This integration corresponds with extended efforts by Ventuz Technology to optimize its SDI pipeline and improve Ventuz-based broadcast-graphics operations on every level.

“Ventuz is an extremely flexible and innovative graphics solution and follows many of the same philosophies as we do,” explains Milan Varga, technology partners manager, Octopus Newsroom. “We are very much looking forward to exploring the possibilities this integration provides.”
