TWC helps Lincoln Saltdog fans get fix

For the first time ever, a Lincoln Saltdogs game will be televised in Lincoln, thanks to Time Warner Cable. The Saltdogs’ season opener from Pensacola, Fla., will air Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. on channel 202. The game is being aired at no additional charge to all Time Warner digital cable customers in Nebraska.

“We have developed a partnership with Cox Sports Television, which is producing the game in Florida and we’re very excited that Saltdogs fans will be able to see this year’s season opener on TV for the first time ever,” said Ann Shrewsbury, director of public affairs for Time Warner Cable.

Saltdogs’ President Charlie Meyer said he’s thrilled that the game will be on TV back in Lincoln.

“I think it’s a great for Lincoln and the players and fans and we can’t thank Time Warner enough for working this out so that people back home can see Saltdogs baseball on opening day,” Meyer said. “This is a unique opportunity for our organization and we’re excited that fans will get to see our team in action this week, before our home opener May 22.”

For the second-consecutive year, the Lincoln Saltdogs open a new season on the road at Pensacola. Game time for the opener is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Pelican Park on the campus of West Florida University. In 2006, Lincoln began the new season by sweeping a four-game series from the Pelicans.
