Baseball sets attendance record

Major
League Baseball set a single-day attendance record yesterday. There were
717,478 fans drawn to 17 games.

Boosted by
a pair of day-night doubleheaders, baseball broke the previous mark of 640,412,
set when 17 games were played on July third, 1999.

Baseball
is averaging 32,258 fans per game through Saturday. That’s up almost 4.5% from
last year.
