EVS Breaks New Ground With XLeague TV

EVS has
announced its alliance with XLeague.TV, the first channel in the

UK to
operate EVS technology within a next generation gaming environment.

XLeague.TV, which launched in May on the Sky satellite channel 279, is a series
of online video-gaming competitions with an entire channel of programming
dedicated towards eSports. As befits the most hotly anticipated cross-platform
online gaming service, XLeague.TV has selected the most cutting edge and
lightning fast production technology available.

Running on an EVS XT 6-channel XT[2] server, a variety of live and live feeds
are made instantly accessible to the EVS Multicam LSM application to enable
ultra-fast editing and output of slow motion action and highlights sequences.

XLeague.TV is the

UK’s
first and only dedicated eSports channel, where video gaming becomes sport.
Competitive live matches, league and tournament play with commentary, analysis,
news, reviews, updates and magazine format shows are taken from continuous
online leagues at www.xleague.tv.

In conjunction with the XLeague.TV website, gamers can participate and watch
major sporting events like football and motor-sport, but in the virtual world
of video games.

“It was my intention to bring standard sports TV production values to
XLeague.TV and I considered EVS technology the only option,” says Senior
Producer Rob O’Farrell. “XLeague.TV’s flagship show The Match, sees the
country’s top gamers battling it out for cash prizes and television fame. The
Match is like any other top rated live sports containing full analysis, instant
replays, VTs and stories of the day. We needed the most powerful system around
to cope with the demands of live production.”

eSports describes computer and videogames being played as a competitive sport.
XLeague.TV aims to create the first eSports superstars via online and on-air
broadcast, whilst continuing to show the public the very best in eSports
action.

“We are proud that XLeague.TV have chosen to purchase and use the EVS
system for this new UK based broadcast channel application” says EVS UK
Sales Manager Mike Snell.“The model they are operating has been proven time and
time again for the production of some of the world’s most high-profile sports
events. EVS technology allows XLeague.TV to produce high quality sports style
broadcasts using state of the art material and using it to its specifications,
ultimately for viewer pleasure and experience.”

XLEAGUE.TV is part of Portland TV, the broadcasting arm of Northern & Shell
which includes The Daily & Sunday Star and The Daily & Sunday Express
newspapers as well as numerous successful magazines including OK Magazine.

XLEAGUE.TV is an online gaming competition with an entire channel of
programming dedicated towards eSports. XLEAGUE.TV is the

UK’s first
eSports television channel on Sky. Coupled with our XLEAGUE.TV website, gamers
can participate and watch major sporting events like football and motor-sport
