NVision Synapse modules get smart with Cortex software

NVISION’s is enhancing its Synapse line of broadcast modules with Synapse Cortex software, a single application that configures, controls, and monitors a network comprised of NVISION’s Synapse broadcast modules. Offered free of charge, Cortex includes all the functionality of three previous Synapse applications, set up, back up, and control panel configuration, as well as several new features, such as Control Monitoring and an all-new graphical user interface (GUI) for ease of use during set up of more complex modules.

A key new feature is permission access to the Synapse network. The customer can set permissions at three levels: for the administrator, engineer, or the user. Additionally, users can access more in-depth knowledge of a specific module with quick access to the manual dat base; just click on view, manual.

The Synapse network can be monitored from the Cortex system view, which uses hierarchical status reporting to provide system status at a glance. Cortex logs the activity of the system to a SQL database and presents this data in an event log so that historical monitoring of the system can be displayed, acknowledged, retrieved and optionally archived. The user is able to tailor the severity level for each status event in order to define its significance for their system.

Cortex also includes many familiar features to help maintain the Synapse system, including copy and paste of one module configuration to another; creating a configuration from file templates; archiving of system status; backup; restore; system inventory; and batch programming.

Cortex also enables updates of module firmware to ensure the system and network are working with the latest features and advancements, protecting the customer’s original investment. Synapse customers will receive free software updates for the life of the product.
